I Like To Buy My Bicycles!

I went shopping today. In Kirksville, I go shopping at Wal Mart. I dislike Wal Mart. I feel like it is impersonal and simply trying to make things as cheap as possible in order to make a profit. So when I come home, I choose to go shopping at a better store. And today I needed a few things, so away I went to............

13. TARGET

Target is a place with adorable things to buy. They also have a broad range of stuff to buy, just like wal mart, but it's whole thing is not to make everything NO dollars so everyone can afford it, but to pick items that are affordable and yet still adorable. Plus, I can go shopping for hair supplies, clothes, cards, birthday presents, home decorations, school supplies, books, movies, accessories, food, and so so much more! I can go into that store and not come out for 9 years and 500 dollars poorer!

Today I went in for some hair gel, a new planner, and a cute organizer.

I came out with hair smoothing milk, bamboo hairspray, planner, 16 candles (the movie), the hangover, season 6 of house, a birthday card, some breathe mints, 2 new sweaters, a t shirt, a cute striped cami, and a whole wish list of cute posters and pillows and decorating designs for when i have my own house.

I also feel like Target does a good job of working for their customers and trying to make things work for them!

Over Again

Music makes up so much of my life. So it's gotta pop up on here in a place other than autotune. :) AND we got faster internet here at Truman, and so I have started using something again now that I don't have to wait 9 years for it to buffer and then just get frustrated when it freezes all the time.........
12. PANDORA

OOOOOOOOOOOH pandora. how i love you. it is AWESOME at finding the right songs for my mood, or a new artist. or putting together artists i love.

i can create it to play whatever i'd like, and i can use it to remember really awesome songs that i need to get onto my ipod.

AND it's holiday stations completely ROCK.
1 downside is the commercials. and the whole "are you still there? we don't like listening to an empty room!" BUT the only way to avoid that is to interact with pandora, which sparks more commercials.

besides that. >

GRAB MY LEGS

It's cold today. Like it's kind of almost winter around here. WHICH ROCKS. It also leads to many winter-esque things to be at the top of my mind. especially things that keep me warm when it's cold. Like what' I'm wearing today!

11. LEGGINGS
BUT NOT AS PANTS.
I love leggings as an accent to a cute outfit, under a long sweater/dress, or under my normal pants in order to keep warm. They can act as the perfect accessory- adding a dash of color to an otherwise drab outfit, bringing a way out there outfit back to earth- to most anything.
And you can layer them with almost anything. Other leggings, tights, shorts, capris, pants, dresses.......
The con is that people think their pants. which I guess they are by technicality. But it's disgusting to me when people where SEE THROUGH leggings and no other bottoms. And when they wear skin tight leggings to show things off that I would rather pass on seeing.
But if you just use a little bit of that awesome brain power we're blessed leggings can be AWESOME.

You Found An Item

I feel like putting a lot of stuff on here defeats the purpose. But I also believe this item REALLY needs inclusion. I got this item from Wal Mart a few weeks ago witha coupon, making it completely free, and that much better... SO HERE GOES

10. Silly Putty
This extremely versatile, multi colored gooey thing is one of the best inventions ever. It works as a stress reliever, a nerve calmer, a way to pass the time, fingerprint analyzer, bouncy ball, spider web, bubble blower, and imprint creator.
It also comes in an egg. AN EGG!!!!!!!! And if you keep it in this egg, it won't ever dry out!!!! It also comes in a two part package for less than 2 bucks.
You can squish that little ball of goo forever if you wish, and it never gets mad. It never tries to squish you back. AND IT NEVER STICKS TO ANYTHING PERMANENTLY.
one of my favorite new things to do with this is bounce it. if you roll it into a ball, IT BOUNCES!!!!! WHO KNEW????

in summary, silly putty is helping me get through college. And I got it for free

We Sing and Dance

It's been awhile. I moved into college. I've finally finished decorating my room (IT LOOKS SO CUTE) and I am relaxing and watching some youtube! Which helped me discover the next thing that absolutely neeeeeeeeeeds to be on my list!!!

9. Autotune

WAIT JUST A SECOND. please don't freak out on me. Just listen. I DO NOT like autotune on actual artists who can't sing and resort to autotuning their voice. THAT offense does not deserve a spot on this list. What I do like is when random people take funny clips of people saying things and autotune THOSE and put them into funny videos. Cuz those crack my shit up. Seriously.
Funny. There is just something quite humorous about a stupid old politician saying something stupid and having it torn apart and put into an awesome song.

Plus. Symphony of Science. End of discussion.

Ice Ice Baby

It's summer. Therefore, it's HOT AS BLAZES here in the grand state of MISSOURI. It also means it's so humid you could probably eat the air around you. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Oh, and there is no beach to go and chill at, making the hottness worth it. DOUBLE YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.
So basically, we Missourians spend summer figuring out how not to die. Rule number 1 is not to shop in the Sears electronics department. The TV's heat up so so so much and suck out any coolness that is spread by the stupid measly awful A/C.
Enough about that. Another thing to help keep cool.....

8. Ice Cubes
Seriously one of the best inventions ever. I mean, someone, at some point, stuck water in a freezer and BAM little squares that cool everything off. Whether it's your drink that got warm because that's what they like to do, or your dog who's super huge and really furry and dies every time she goes outside... They work wonderfully. Plus, you can put them on your neck and it auto cools you off as the cold drip runs down your spine. Or you can just jump into a pool of them and cool off your whole body. THE POSSIBILITIES!!!!
Plus, you can make them with plain water, which is just peachy, or you can make them with fruit like peaches, which is just... watery?... Well anyway. The point being you can make so many different kinds. Ice cubes with fruit in them to spice up some afternoon tea, soda ice cubes, so that your soda does not get all water when it melts, lemonade ice cubes to just suck on and love....... Yeah. ice cubes rock. AND if all that wasn't enough, you stick those ice cubes in a blender and put any kind of fruit, or drink, or liquid with it and BAM you have yourself a smoothie! Or you put a bunch of shaved/crushed ice in a little cup and pour some sugar flavored syrup over it and BAMBAM you have a sno cone!

:) me love me some ICE CUBES.

Warm Fuzzies

Seeing as I have a swimming pool sitting in my backyard, I go swimming quite often. Probably more than the average bear. hahahhaha
anyway. ignoring that. Swimming presents many different feelings, as most people know. Especially during the summer. And after going swimming at a friends pool on Wednesday, something happened and it directed me to something else that deserves a place on this list.

7. The Feeling of Water Coming Out of Your Ear
We have all felt it- the clogged sensation of water being stuck in your ear. It's annoying for one and can get quite painful. It makes it hard to hear and it makes you feel like you have wax or some other equally unhappy feeling thing stuck in your ear canal.
HOWEVER. this unfortunate feeling brings me to number 7 on the list. Water coming out of your ear is delightful for two reasons: 1) The warmth of the water as it passes out of your ear canal is a spine tingling wonderful sensation 2) The relief that the absence of water in your ear brings is almost equally wonderful.
That makes this once again one of those "every cloud has a silver lining" kind of situations.

Sniff Sniff Sniff

So this next one is about food again. I feel really fat talking about all this food. HOWEVER it's something a little different. Explanation:
I went to Silky's last night to gather some delicious custard for me and my family. As I drove up, many many old memories came to fruition in my brain, seeing as a I worked there for a year. The craziness that is a hot night at an ice cream stand, the silly yellow shirts and painful ugly black shoes, the lack of adult supervision, the stupid same 4 songs played on z107 ever three minutes..... But THEN! I remembered that when I had gone to Ted Drewe's a few weeks earlier with that guy named Justin, something happened. Which leads me to....

6. The Smell of Custard/Ice Cream
As the glorious smell of Ted Drewe's wafted at me, I was absolutely stunned by the longing that filled me. That smell that I hardly noticed when I labored hard in the ice cream stand before filled my body with longing. I WANTED that custard. In case you don't know, the smell of custard is this rich, creamy smell that makes your mouth water and your nose expand in an attempt to get more in. It's like eating ice cream, but with your nose.

A little extreme. But still. It is HEAVENLY. And it's something most people don't ever notice or experience, unless you spend hours locked in a small shack surrounded by the stuff. It's actually quite strong then, and permeates everything- you, your clothes, your hair, your BRAIN. However, after working at Silky's for so long, I had began to get used to, and even forget about, the smell. And so when I quit, and never went back, I thought about missing the actually ice cream, and not the smell of it.
So that crazy little trip to Ted Drewe's brought all those memories back. Of course so much has happened since then that I was filled with wonder at the moment, but quickly forgot. Until last night, when I was once again reminded as I pulled up to the drive through at Silky's.
My suggestion to you, is next time you go to an ice cream stand for some frozen treats is to lean in a bit, and take a whiff. It's absolutely grand.

Speaking Words

So I have finally come to admit that I am, in fact, a bit of a nerd. However I embrace this part of me. SOOOOO SO SO SO one thing I like is Words. Which makes me think about what exactly I like about words. I mean, I am a comm major. So an obvious reason is that they allow humans to communicate effectively.... but really. I LOVE finding random new words other people don't know (par exemple: VESTAL. LOL freshman year) or words that sound cool or roll of the tongue. So for my number 5..............................

5. Onomatopoeias
In case you don't know, onomatopoeias are those words that sound like the word it is. Like "achoo" or animal noises. Onomatopoeias never cease to amaze me. I mean seriously how cool is it that we can say ZIP and that's what a zipper sounds like??? orrrr an hoots and it sounds like HOOT????????????????????????????????
My all time favorite onomatopoeia is Boing. Or maybe oof. Or maybe boingoof. Both of those are ridiculously fun to say. Seriously. Just sit there and going BOING BOING BOING BOING and you cannot help but giggle a little. (Giggle is a strange onomatopoeia. Like bark- the noise a dog makes. It counts but I feel like their not real, since that's not exactly a literal sound. So I call them onomats instead.)
PLUS lots of onomatopoeias are different in different languages (especially animal noises). Which is a HYSTERICAL concept to my brain, considering the definition of an onomatopoeia!
Finally another awesome thing about onomatopoeia is that because I have so far typed the word 6 times, I can now spell a strange sounding word that hardly looks at all like how you say it. Once again, just the nerd in me coming out.

The Calm

Storms are one of nature's coolest events. It helps produce life- trees, grass, flowers, US. It also brings booming thunder and flashing lightning. It also makes beautiful sounds as rain tumbles on the roof or on my head. I love flowers. Therefore I love the rain that brings them to life. BUT storms are sooooooo ORDINARY for someone to like. EVERYONE loves storms, or rain, or thunder. What I always forget about is this................

4. The Calm Before the Storm
Standing outside, a hush comes over you. You can see the storm coming in the grey, dark clouds. You can feel the it in the heaviness of the air around you, thick and making it harder to breathe. BUT the storm is NOT upon you yet, though there is a breeze.
Then, suddenly, everything stops. The breeze dies down, the air lightens up. And everything feels right. Like, no matter whats going on in my own life, right now, everything will be ok.
That one moment is enough to refresh me for days. I feel like I am flying on the wings of this storm. And it doesn't hurt that the calm of the storm means there is a storm close behind, which I like for all the reasons I listed above.

People I Like

So I have A LOT of interaction with random people, what with going to Truman and working at Sears and shopping a lot. And without further ado, I'd like to introduce them. Though you should know that these interactions have allowed me to pinpoint the kind of people I particularly like a lot. As in, when I make friends I tend to veer towards this kind of person. Without further ado, allow me to share with you what exactly I'm describing. Although realize that this is a huge generalization seeing as I have so many random friends that are not in this category.
And now you have officially been blathered at. Without further ado (FOR REAL PAHAHAHA)....

3. Nerds/Dorks/Really Intelligent Men/Smarties
I realize that this is a very generalized category. But seriously? In high school, I mainly hung out with a bunch of guys who would be in the dictionary under these and other similar words. And I loved every second of it. These guys are the sweetest, funniest kind of people. They crack jokes that play on having random knowledge and they don't care that other people don't understand it. Best of all they have these huge loving hearts that you'd miss if you didn't really know them.
Because of my high school experience I have decided that when I grow up, I want to work in the public relations sector of a largerish company that is mainly made up of these kind of people. I want to assist in the communication aspect of their lives, since so often other people see them as having issues communication properly. This is not a dig on anyway, rather an observation on how people deal with each other on a day to day basis.
So thank you, guys from high school. You guys were some of the coolest friends. :)

More Food? I KNOW

I was eating breakfast earlier (I KNOW RIGHT???). It was the most exciting thing of the day. Except for shaving my legs. Anyway I was eating food and I went into my cupboard and there on the top shelf, was a bag. A bag full of wonderful delicious orange food. CHEETOS PUFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This leads me to my number 2 item. No, not just cheetos, or cheetos puffs....

2. Cheese Dust (on my fingers)
This is so so so perfect. Because when you lick it off, you get the awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome awesome taste that is Cheetos (they will probably get on this list somewhere!) BUT you also don't have to worry about intaking hundreds of grams of fat that is Cheetos. Plus, it's orange. I love orange. I love it so much I painted my whole room orange. So that's a definite plus. And if that's not enough, it gives me an excuse to lick my fingers. Think about it, if you're in a restaurant, licking your fingers is absolutely a NO NO. Even in my own house I can't lick my fingers normally. BUT having Cheetos dust on my fingers is an excellent excuse to get that last little bit of awesome into my mouth.

Happiness

I feel like I COMPLAIN. a lot. Probably more than a lot. And I fear it gives everyone around me the wrong impression. I am actually a very pleasant, extremely happy individual. And positive. I like seeing the good things in life, even if I don't really share them that often. So I've create a project for myself so that I can always remind my own self just how awesome life really is.
And....
this blog was born.
So I'm going to blog about the millions of little things I truly love and are often overlooked by both me and society as a whole.
I blogged. When I was........... 15? You know, full of angst. And sexual tensions. The whole "I am so sad because my boyfriend is sad" deal. I feel like that kind of blogging was nothing but me begging for attention.
What I'm doing now is quite, quite, QUITE different. I shall instead attempt to brighten my own day, each day, by coming up with something that makes me happy. That way, when the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad, I'll simply remember my favorite things, and then I don't feel so bad!
(anyone? sound of music? fun trivia of the day I HAVE STILL NEVER SEEN SOUND OF MUSIC BUT I KNOW ALL THE WORDS TO ALL THE SONGS. That's a win if I've ever seen one!)

So tallyho and all the nonsense. Hopefully this makes you smile too!

1. Ring Pops.
Ring Pops have to be number one. They just do. Ring Pops seriously seriously SERIOUSLY make my day, every day of my life. They are 56 cents at Wal-Mart and even cheaper in a pack from Walgreens. And they are 10 minutes of absolutely tongue heaven. Plus they contain enough sugar to jump start my system for a little bit and leave me feeling pretty good. Beyond that, I have yet to try a flavor that sucks. Seriously! Even the weird twisty ones, like "Twisted Citrus Craze" which sounds down right DANGEROUS, totally rock my socks off.
